HNC 3D Design: Product and Interior Design

Course Content

This is the ideal course if you love working in 3D, designing, model making, prototyping and being a creative problem solver. This course is innovative, creative and exciting and focuses on new design methods and technologies to produce physical designs in a playful, engaging and meaningful way. Mixing technical demonstrations with project-driven design challenges, you will undertake both interior and product design focused briefs. These high in-demand skills are complemented by 21st century technologies including 2D/3D CAD, laser cutters, 3D Printers and other prototyping techniques.

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 1 relevant Higher/equivalent qualifications, preferred English and Art/Design or successful completion of a relevant SCQF level 6 course (and minimum 85% attendance). At interview applicants are required to bring a portfolio of work such as drawings/designs/photography/3D work. Digital portfolio submissions are also accepted. Mature candidates without formal qualifications will be considered on presentation of a strong portfolio. 

Method of Assessment

Continuous internal/external assessment with the focus on portfolio production and submission.

Future Prospects

Successful learners may apply to study at degree level at university or go into employment. Employment opportunities in a wide range of careers.
