Develops knowledge and understanding of the particulate nature of matter and how the interactions of matter contributes to our environment, nature and the applications in industry. You will study a wide range of topics including chemical reaction rates, patterns in the Periodic Table, structure and formula, and carbon compound reactions. Builds on knowledge from National 5 of bonding, structure, properties and of the mole, and enables learners to acquire enhanced understanding of Chemistry for progression onto Higher Education.
Applicants should have a National 5 (B grade), Standard Grade Credit or Intermediate 2 (B grade) Chemistry qualification. Consideration may be given to applicants with other relevant qualifications or work experience. Applicants will be invited for an interview and may be required to sit a short diagnostic test.
Higher Chemistry is a useful science higher which along with other appropriate level 6 qualifications may allow progression to HNC Applied Science or university.
