Certificate in Applied Science (SCQF Level 5-6) (2018/19)
The course contains mandatory topics at Higher level covering areas of Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Communications, other science units include Microbiology and practical skills. This will provide the knowledge and skills to progress onto studying Science at Higher level. The course would suit someone with National 5 qualifications in a Science subject who would like to progress onto an HNC Applied Science or related course.
Two National 5 or Standard Grades credit level qualifications. These should be in Maths and either Chemistry or Biology. Consideration will be given to applicants with relevant work experience or other relevant qualifications. Applicants should have a desire to work towards entry into HNC level or a career in a science discipline.
Successful completion of Certificate in Applied Science (Level 6) with satisfactory attendance will allow entry to HNC Applied Sciences and then further progression to university. It also provides the entry qualifications for employment as a trainee science technician.
