HND Acting and Performance (2018/19)

Course Content

This highly practical course aims to further enhance skills in acting, devising and theatre-making; with a view to moving towards specialised areas of interest which may include acting, directing, writing and/or community drama. SQA units offered include: acting, voice, movement, production, acting for camera, directing a text, devising skills and/or community theatre. Students will get a range of performance opportunities including two text-based performances at The Space, Kingsway Campus. Additional opportunities include: workshops with theatre specialists, theatre trips and collaborative projects across art forms.

Target Audience

This course is suited to those candidates who are looking to pursue a career in the performing arts with a specific interest in acting, directing, devising and community arts.

Entry Requirements

You require a 15 credit HNC in Acting and Performance to be eligible for applying to the HND Acting & Performance Course.

Future Prospects

Progression to a degree completion award or other degrees. Employment in the creative and digital industries.


A range of methods including observation of participation in practical classes, rehearsals, performances, group presentations and written assignments.
