Course Content

Subjects include: Hospitality Industry; Hospitality Supervision; Hospitality Financial and Control Systems; Food Hygiene Intermediate; Food and Beverage Service; Food Production Processes; Alcoholic Beverages: an Introduction; Food Preparation for the Licensed Trade; Accommodation Servicing; Hospitality Front Office Procedures 1; Hospitality Group Award Unit 1.

Target Audience

Anyone aspiring to develop a career in the hospitality industry including school leavers and adults returning to education with the required qualifications or relevant experience.

Entry Requirements

Two Highers or a relevant SCQF Level 6 qualification and a satisfactory reference. Applicants must attend an information session and an interview for selection. Applicants must have a keen interest and hopefully a passion in the hospitality industry. Consideration may be given to those who do not meet the criteria but have relevant experience.

Future Prospects

This qualification enables progression to HND Hospitality Management and enhances employment opportunities at either general management level or in the management of specialist areas within the hospitality industry.


Internal continuous assessments using various methods including open-book assessments, closed-book assessments, observations and projects.
