HNC Acting and Performance (2018/19)

Course Content

This is a highly practical course which aims to further develop skills in performing, devising and theatre making. SQA units covered include: Acting, Voice, Movement, Production, Creating Devised Theatre, Shakespeare and Theatre Styles. You will have the opportunity to perform a devised ensemble piece as well as one full-length, text based production, performed at The Space Theatre, Kingsway Campus. Additional opportunities include: workshops with theatre specialists, theatre trips and collaborative projects across art forms.

Target Audience

Candidates with an interest in acting, performance, theatre and community arts.

Entry Requirements

NC Acting and Theatre Performance or equivalent qualification would be advantageous but not essential, as would passes in 2 Highers including English and drama. Selection is through participation in a group workshop and the performance of two monologues (one devised and one from text).

Future Prospects

Progression to the HND Acting and Performance course or further study at drama school or university.


Combination of practical classwork, performance and written assignments.
