VTCT Level 3 - Diploma in Women's Hairdressing (2018/19)

Course Content

This course builds on existing knowledge, skills and understanding of hairdressing and will develop individual technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a senior hairdresser/stylist. Includes mandatory units required to work effectively: health and safety; client consultation; advanced cutting; styling and colouring techniques and promoting products and services to clients. Specialist units include creative hairdressing and designing a hairstyle collection. Learners will have their hairdressing skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment. This qualification's structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop for their designated career pathway.

Target Audience

Applicants with Level 2 Hairdressing or equivalent or relevant industry experience

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing (or equivalent) or relevant industry experience.

Future Prospects

Further study at HNC level; employment in a commercial salon or independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings; Product manufacturing and training; Television, film, theatre and media; Armed services; HM prison service; Cruise liners; Hospitals/care homes.


Online closed book assessment will take place throughout your course for knowledge required. Skills will be assessed by direct observation of the lecturer during salon sessions.
