SQA Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (2017/18)
This qualification has been designed to support those working in the licensed trade to meet the mandatory qualification and training requirements of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010. It is based on the National Standards for Personal Licence Holders and Staff Training developed in conjunction with the Scottish Government, People 1st (the Sector Skills Council for Hospitality, Tourism and Passenger Transport), the licensed trade and qualification awarding bodies. The licensing board
Drunkenness and disorderly conduct
Licensing standards officers
Local licensing forums
Control of order
Review of premises licence
Effects of alcohol
This is designed to meet the qualification requirements of the Licensing Act 2005, which came into effect on 1 September 2009. All personal licence holders must hold an appropriate qualification prior to applying for a personal licence.
Successful candidates receive a qualification in the licensed retail trade which satisfies the legal requirement under the Licensing Act (Scotland) 2005 and the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010.
Multiple choice examination.This qualification is assessed on a PC by an externally set examination using SQA's online assessment platform.Candidates should have access to the relevant handbook to allow prior study of the material
