Foundation Degree of the Arts - Esports and Creative Industries
This course, a university-level qualification, similar to a 2-year HND, is the first of its kind in Scotland. Linked to the opening of the Dundee Esports arena, this course will develop the skills students need to build a career in the exciting Esports industry. Esports is not just about playing games competitively, this is a multidisciplinary career where a range of skills are required to manage and participate in competitions. You will learn how to plan and organise Esports events. You’ll explore the culture of Esports, look at the audience and games that are played in high-level competitions and consider the importance of professionalism and ethical conduct and the effects of legislation. You’ll also develop digital skills in Cyber Security, streaming and look at the importance of coaching and sports psychology.
Four National 5 qualifications at A or B and one Higher (C or above).
Progression from SCQF level 5/6 college course passing all credits.
Mature applicants with relevant experience are assessed individually for suitability.
Completion of a strong personal statement explaining your interest in the course. You may be invited to an interview to make sure this is the right course for you. All applicants may also be asked to provide a reference.
Method of Assessment
Continuous assessment throughout the qualification will include reports and essays, presentations and assessment of practical skills.
Successful students will be able to progress to Abertay University and articulate to their Esports Degree.
