Access to Nursing and Social Services (encompassing SWAP)
This course is designed to prepare learners to enter Higher Education at HNC or degree level. It covers a variety of Higher level subjects comprising 18 credits (care related units and core skills), an externally marked project-based assessment and a voluntary placement element. Completed Level 5 Care programme or minimum of 4 National 5s. Suitable applicants will be invited to attend an information session. Selection will be made on a satisfactory personal statement and diagnostic test All applicants will be considered on an individual basis.
Method of Assessment
Assessment methods include class activities, written reports, essays and exams.
Completion of all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference may allow learners to progress to either university degree courses in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing only, HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services. Please note this course will not lead to Midwifery or Children's Nursing.
