Access to Nursing and Social Services (encompassing SWAP)
Course Content
This course is designed to prepare learners to enter Higher Education at HNC or degree level. It covers a variety of Higher level subjects comprising 18 credits (care related units and core skills), an externally marked project-based assessment and a voluntary placement element. Entry Requirements
Completed Level 5 Care programme or minimum of 4 National 5s. Suitable applicants will be invited to attend an information session. Selection will be made on a satisfactory interview, diagnostic test and satisfactory reference. All applicants will be considered on an individual basis. Acceptable PVG.
Method of Assessment
Assessment methods include class activities, written reports and essays, role-play scenarios and discussion panels.
Future Prospects
Completion of all units, a good attendance record and a positive reference may allow learners to progress to either university degree courses in nursing, HNC Healthcare Practice or HNC Social Services.
