Advanced Certificate in Tourism & Events
This course will develop your skills and knowledge in the tourism and events industries and prepare you for employment or progression onto our HNC courses in Travel and Tourism or Events.
You will get an insight into the diverse roles within the events and tourism industries. Subjects covered include Cabin Crew; Resort Rep; Tour Guiding; Airport Ground Operations; Sustainable Tourism and Events; Event Planning; Event Costing; Event Themes/Styling and Event Promotion. The course also includes trips to local/regional attractions and events/venues to enhance your learning.
Over 25 of our students gained employment in 2022 within Travel and Tourism and Events (17 within the airline industry and travel agencies). There has never been a better time to study one of our courses and start your journey into Scotland’s growing tourism and events industry!
Preferably a minimum of two National 5 qualifications, however consideration will also be given to applicants with a good personal statement and National 4 qualifications or relevant life/work experience. Applicants should have the desire to work towards a career within the tourism or events industry or progress towards HNC in Travel and Tourism or HNC Events.
Applicants will be invited to a recruitment workshop to assess their suitability for the course.
Method of Assessment
Units will be continually assessed through end of unit assessments or by the completion of projects/course work. No end of course assessment or exam.
Successful completion of the course and satisfactory reference can lead to progression to HNC in Travel and Tourism or HNC Events or employment within the industry.
