Sport Performance (SCQF Level 5)

Course Content

This course looks to develop technical, tactical, physiological and psychological elements of performance within each learner. An NPA in Achieving Excellence in Sport (SCQF 6) is a large part of the course. Learners will develop their own individual performance through practical and academic sessions, enhancing and complementing existing training schedules. Learners will study SQA and college based units in Sports Performance, Performance Analysis, Rules/Laws of Sport, Human Anatomy, Sports Injuries, Strength & Conditioning and Coaching. Learners will study and develop in other important performance areas such as Nutrition, Hydration, Sleep and Social Media Awareness whilst also developing essential skills.

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at athletes/players who compete or have the potential to compete at performance level (club, regional, national or international) and who wish to continue their sporting development within a full-time structured programme. Applicants must have academic qualifications at SCQF Level 5 in PE/Sport and English. Applicants will be invited in for interview which will consist of practical and written assessments and a short interview. PVG Scheme Membership is a mandatory requirement for placement.

Method of Assessment

Variety of assessments: practical performance assessment, written assignments, presentations, portfolio, exams, placement & coaching delivery.

Future Prospects

Successful completion may lead to entry to another sport and fitness course or employment within the sports industry.
