Advanced Certificate in Social Sciences (Level 6)

Course Content

This level 6 programme offers an excellent opportunity and preparation for the HN Social Sciences and possible progression to other level 7 courses. Subjects may include Research, Sociology, Psychology, History, Criminology, Geography, Modern Studies, Counselling, Volunteering, Analysing Sources and Texts, Employability/Study/Exam Skills, Guidance and Graded Exam. Progression to HNC level study at D&A will depend on successful completion of all units, performance, attendance and reference. 

Entry Requirements

Four National 5 qualifications in appropriate subjects; appropriate Level 5 group award with all course credits achieved, or equivalent; relevant life/work experience may be considered. Further selection on personal statement, reference and interview. For current/prior students attendance record/previous performance is considered.

Method of Assessment

Open and closed book assessments in a variety of formats. Graded Unit exam.

Future Prospects

Potential progression to HNC Social Sciences, further study at related HN level or volunteering/employment.
