ESOL Literacies for English Language Teachers
This online course will offer a range of practical ideas for working with ESOL Literacies learners from very basic literacy learners to low-level ESOL learners with literacy needs.
It will explore ways of developing activities for teaching the skills of Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Numeracy, including an exploration of appropriate diagnostic testing materials.
The activities in the course will be adaptable for face-to-face and online teaching. There will be opportunities for collaboration with co-learners and an introduction to a variety of ESOL literacies resources.
This course is suitable for teachers, tutors, and volunteers working in an ESOL Literacies context. Non-native English speakers require a level of English at Upper-Intermediate/B2 or above. This course would suit both newly qualified and experienced teachers who want to learn more about teaching ESOL Literacies.
Applicants should have an interest in learning how to work with and support ESOL Literacies learners, from diagnostic assessment to planning and delivering materials and activities, in addition to supporting learners’ digital skills.
Method of Assessment
