Fast Track to Computing and Technology
Course Content
The Fast Track to Computing is an introduction to Computing and Technology, allowing you to progress to higher study. You will learn a range of skills and technologies in coding and web development, computer networking, and hardware. You will also develop the key skills of team and project working.
Subjects include:
- Software Design and Development
- Computer Networking Fundamentals
- Ethical Hacking
- Computing project
This course is designed to link to our progression courses. Successful students can move on to the level 5/6 Certificate in Computing Course. Suitable applicants can progress to HNC. It is ideal for school leavers who have been studying National 5, or those who want to re-skill or upskill into Computing.
Entry Requirements
All students must complete a strong personal statement explaining your interest in the course, please contact us for support if needed.
You may be invited to a recruitment workshop to ensure this is the right course for you. All applicants may also be asked to provide a reference.
Method of Assessment
Each subject has its own assessments, methods of assessment may include:
- Multiple choice quizzes
- Written questions
- Writing code for programs or websites
- Project work
Future Prospects
Successful students will have two options, progression to the full-time Certificate in Computing course at Level 5/6 to further enhance skills in preparation for advanced study.

- Certificate in Computing with Game Development and Esports
- Certificate in Computing with Cyber Security
Successful students with the potential can progress to our HNC Courses in the Computing Department.
