Fast Track to NC Animal Care

Course Content

A short full-time course will allow those who successfully complete it, with a satisfactory reference from your tutors, to progress directly to NC Animal Care in the August intake.


This course introduces anatomy and first aid as well as practical care for small animals. The course offers an insight into broader animal care subjects including dog training, aquarium set-up and horses, through a mixture of activities and topics.


Equipment Provided & Required - Scrub Tops, Scrub Trousers, Safety Wellingtons.

Entry Requirements

Progressing students: please refer to the conditions set by the department.


External applicants will be required to undertake an interview including a practical activity, including small animal handling. Applicants will be required to work with a wide variety of small animals including rodents, reptiles and birds. Successful applicants will be selected based on interview performance and academic references including attendance.

Method of Assessment

This course is a mixture of written and practical assessments in addition to some short assignments.

Future Prospects

Successful learners may wish to apply to progress onto NC Animal Care.
