Teaching ESOL Literacies to Adults
Course Content
In this interactive online course you will learn how to analyse and evaluate adult ESOL literacies within a Scottish context, identify and assess ESOL literacies learners and their learning needs, apply skills and strategies to support ESOL literacies learning and plan and deliver ESOL literacies learning.
As well as interactive online classes on Mondays 6-8pm, this course includes additional learning hours of independent background reading, lesson planning and portfolio preparation.

Entry Requirements
You should have experience of working with ESOL learners and a knowledge of cultural, social and linguistic diversity, teaching methodologies and language awareness.
You must normally hold the CELTA or equivalent, containing at least 6 hours of supervised teaching practice. If English is not your first language, a very high level of spoken and written accuracy is required (min CPE or recent IELTS score of 7.0, including 7.0 for written English).
Method of Assessment
Assessment is through a portfolio of work done during the course.
Future Prospects
This course enables professionals to be equipped with specialist training to work effectively with ESOL literacies learners in a variety of contexts.
