English for the Care Sector
Course Content
This course aims to improve learners' use of English in professional Social and Health Care settings and/or provide a platform for progression onto NC, HNC Social and Health Care courses within D&A College. With a strong focus on interactive communication, this course will prepare learners with the relevant vocabulary and phrases used in the Care Sector, as well as on grammar usage and the skills required to function in Social and Health Care contexts. In addition, this course will help learners develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Entry Requirements
Previous ESOL study at level 3 or 4 is desirable but not obligatory. Applicants will attend a group information session and will be tested at interview to determine their English language level. Minimum age: normally 18.
Method of Assessment
Regular progress testing throughout.
Future Prospects
On successful completion, learners can progress onto full-time ESOL courses, University and other Social and Health Care related courses in D&A College or benefit from enhanced work prospects.
