Course Content

Construction Technology covers a broad range of construction-related disciplines including site surveying, construction, energy, thermal performance, water, acoustics, model making and human behaviour.

This course equips you with the knowledge and skills required for the specification, design and management of engineering services required in the built environment with an emphasis on sustainable solutions. Designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed by industry to design buildings of the future that not only provide sustainable and low energy-built environments that have a positive influence on the health and wellbeing of the people who use them, buildings that are also resilient and adaptable to future climate change. 

Entry Requirements

Learners should ideally have a broad, general academic knowledge, and the ability for English, Mathematics and other related Technical, Graphical and Science subjects at SCQF level 5/NPA level 5 or above.

Method of Assessment

Project-based learning and continuous assessment.

Future Prospects

This award will provide an opportunity for progression to higher level ‘technician’ courses. For example, HNC Built Environment, HND Civil Engineering, HND Construction Management, HND Architectural Technology.

Learners who successfully complete this award may seek employment in the Built Environment sector, perhaps as a trainee technician working towards a Modern Apprenticeship or other relevant professional accreditation.
