Advanced Certificate in Business Management (SCQF level 5-6)
Learners will study and develop essential skills in the key areas of business. These will be transferable to future courses or employment and will provide an excellent grounding in business subjects such as: Accounting, Marketing, IT, HR and Digital Technologies. These business skills will be put to the test in an enterprise module, which will challenge practical knowledge and bring problem solving and team working skills together. Learners will also work on the core skills areas of communication and numeracy. Suited to school leavers who meet the entry requirements and mature applicants who meet the entry requirements and/or have suitable work experience.
A minimum of four passes at National 5 Level or successful attendance and completion of a relevant certificate level course (may require a reference from group tutor). Good reading, writing and communication skills are essential. Applicants with relevant work experience will also be considered. Selection will be based upon interview, core skills testing and a written piece of work.
Method of Assessment
A mixture of SQA and college devised units assessed continuously throughout the year.
Successful completion, and satisfactory reference, may allow progression to HNC level courses or employment. Applicants who are not accepted for the HNC may still be considered for relevant certificate programmes.
