Art and Design: Portfolio for University Access

Course Content

This portfolio-building course will prepare learners for entry into art school/university study. With the guidance of our friendly and expert staff you will build a strong folio of work that will develop and showcase your skills and creativity. Individual development and an understanding of contemporary Art & Design processes will underpin your visual art skills. The course includes observational drawing, painting skills, printmaking, personal projects, research methods and contextual studies exploring the work of relevant artists/designers. This course is delivered until April in alignment with art school interviews/portfolio dates, with staff supporting learners through the UCAS application process.   

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 2 relevant National 5/equivalent qualifications, preferred English and Art/Design. At interview candidates should bring a portfolio of art and design work such as drawings/designs/photography. Digital portfolio submissions are also accepted. Mature candidates without formal qualifications will be considered on presentation of a portfolio.

Method of Assessment

Continuous internal/external assessment with the focus on portfolio production and submission. 

Future Prospects

It is important for applicants wishing to progress onto a degree course at university level that they check the requirements for the institution as they may have varying levels of entry requirements.
