Advanced Certificate in Accounting
This course is an ideal starting point for applicants with no accounting or limited accounting knowledge. The course will provide applicants with a good foundation in areas of study such as: financial accounting; management accounting; salaries and wages; information technology; communication; economics; enterprise activities; employability skills. Units of study are subject to change. This course provides an entry point to applicants, which can then be used to embark on further study.
A minimum of four National 5 passes at C pass or above (English would be preferable) or completion of the Certificate in Business: Administration & IT or equivalent ESOL qualification. All applicants are subject to an interview and core skills test which must be achieved at a minimum of level 5. Mature applicants who do not meet the academic qualifications for entry will be considered on the basis of relevant work experience.
Method of Assessment
A mixture of SQA and college based units assessed throughout the year by way of continuous assessment, together with a year end examination.
Successful completion along with a positive attitude, behaviour and commitment to the course and satisfactory attendance, may allow progression to HNC Accounting. In certain circumstances a reference may be requested.
