Course Content

The expected outcome is that the course participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the infrastructure for infection control
  2. Define the role of the employer & employee in preventing & controlling infection
  3. Describe ways of preventing transmission of micro-organisms
  4. Define what is “chain of infection”
  5. Understand the importance of vigilance & high standards in breaking the chain of infection
  6. Factors that increase susceptibility to infection
  7. How micro-organisms can be transmitted
  8. How the 2 most common Healthcare Associated Infections should be managed
  9. Understand the rational for separating people in certain circumstances
  10. Understand the purpose & need for PPE
  11. Understand best practice to prevent & control infection
