Feel enriched by embarking on a course which will equip you with the methodology, language awareness, observed and graded teaching practice and knowledge of phonology to make a difference in the classroom.
This is a practical course giving a good foundation in basic teaching techniques with 6 hours of assessed teaching practice. There is a minimum of 120 contact hours. The course includes 120 additional learning hours of independent background reading, assignment writing and lesson preparation. Full and part-time options.
Trainees on our part-time courses will be given the opportunity to gain valuable skills by working as volunteers in our ESOL classes alongside our highly experienced teachers.
Applicants should be at least 20 years old, educated to entry-level higher education. If English is not a candidate's first language, a very high level of spoken and written accuracy is required (minimum CPE or a recent IELTS score of 7.0 overall, including 7.0 for written English).
Method of Assessment
Six hours of assessed teaching practice. Four written assignments (of 3000 words in total), which are internally assessed and externally moderated.
The Cambridge CELTA is the basic requirement for those embarking on a career in English Language teaching to ESOL/EFL learners both abroad and in the UK. Internationally recognised, it can lead to stimulating and challenging work all over the world or in the UK.
