Autism Awareness - An Introduction

Course Content

This  course is designed to equip candidates with knowledge, understanding and confidence to be able to empower and support people with Autism. Areas of study include:
  • How autism may impact upon a person's communication, social interaction and perception
  • Issues affecting safety or quality of life, and person-centred ways of overcoming these
  • Communication and sensory issues
  • Managing the environment to promote low arousal, concentration and learning
  • The range of interventions available
  • Ethical issues
  • Changing your interaction and behaviour to support people with autism more effectively 

Future Prospects

Candidates develop a tool kit to aid their support of individuals with Autism.
