Access to University Study incorporating SWAP
This course is suitable for those hoping to pursue careers where national qualifications in English and Maths are essential such as Social Work and teaching. It also provides you with opportunity to study a range of modules from Social Science subjects such as Psychology and Sociology as well as Information Computing Technology and Preparation for Higher Education. For those applying for SWAP, you are required to have been out of full-time, formal education for three years (or five years if you already have Higher or HN qualifications). All applicants will take part in an informal interview. Diagnostic testing in English and Maths or evidence of National 5 study in relevant areas (for those who are not SWAP eligible).
Method of Assessment
Open and closed book assessments. Possible option to sit final SQA exams but this will be dependent on in-class performance, attendance and results.
Successful completion of the programme may lead to opportunities on degree programmes at university (e.g. Primary Education, Social Work, Community Learning and Development, Social Sciences and Humanities).
