Access to Animal Care (Part 1)

Course Content

Learners will gain experience working with a range of small animals including rabbits, rodents and birds. There is also a project based on planning, developing and maintaining a workplace. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to have a keen interest in the care and handling of animals and be able to demonstrate the ability to work at SCQF level 3 (reading, writing & numeracy). Applicants need to undertake an interview and practical test.

Method of Assessment

This course is very practical and is assessed through carrying out practical tasks. The theory element of the course is assessed throughout the year.

Future Prospects

This course sets a foundation for further study. We encourage applications from successful learners to progress onto Access to Animal Care (Part 2).
