AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting

Course Content

This course provides the foundation, core skills and knowledge needed to gain employment or progress to further professional study. The course covers the following areas of study: Book-keeping; Transaction and Controls; Costing; Using Accounting Software; Working Effecitively within Finance. It is delivered by way of online material through a distance learning platform. Learners may be granted exemptions from part/all of AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting depending on accountancy qualifications held. Registration with AAT professional body is required at the start of the course; examination fees are not included in the course fees.  

Entry Requirements

Learners looking to embark on this qualification can be employed in a finance role or looking to move into a finance role. There are no formal entry requirements, however, a good level of English and maths would be beneficial. Learners will work through this course independently using distance-learning material, so an ability to work independently is essential. Applicants will be interviewed either in person or by telephone before a formal place would be offered.

Method of Assessment

Assessed by AAT using computer-based assessments. On successful completion, learners will be awarded from the Assocation of Accounting Technicians. 

Future Prospects

Successful completion of this level allows progression to AAT Advanced Certificate in Accounting. AAT offers a range of benefits for student members including study support and career advice to help find the perfect job.
