Tourism and Hospitality
Why study Tourism and Hospitality at D&A College?
Want to be part of an exciting, fast-growing industry? The Tourism and Hospitality sector offers a whole host of employment opportunities in hotels, bars, cafes, restaurants, airlines and tourist attractions. Employers not only require trained staff but want individuals who are passionate and ready to thrive in a busy, customer-focussed area.
More visitors are coming to Dundee, staying longer and spending more. Tourism chiefs in the city are looking to bring in £185m to the city economy by 2020, and are targeting 520,000 staying visitors and 600,000 day visitors. Dundee and Angus College offers courses incorporating practical experience from a one-day cabin crew training programme to visits to airports and international trips.
The hospitality industry is also expanding with roles from entry level right up to executive. At D&A College we work with schools and employers to create opportunities for learners at varying levels. Our Senior Phase Hospitality programme allows S4 pupils to undertake a Level 5 Hospitality qualification while still at school.
Meanwhile, our cookery courses are uniquely designed and delivered in our own restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, giving our learners a taste of the real world of work. These are enhanced by industry visits and tutorials, while often taking the classroom “on the road” by delivering events in local prestigious hotels.
