Health and Social Care
Why study Health and Social Care at D&A College?
If you want to make a difference to people’s lives studying in this sector could be for you. D&A College has a wide range of introductory courses, Modern Apprenticeships and SVQs which can lead to a career in all kinds of caring roles, from nursing and social care to support workers and assistant theatre practitioners.
Our Health and Social Care Academy is an opportunity for those who are currently unemployed and living in Angus. This partnership between D&A College, NHS Tayside, Angus Council, Gowrie Care and the Department for Work and Pensions offers a six-week full-time pre-employment training programme to equip you with the essential skills needed to apply for support services jobs across the care sector.
D&A College also has excellent partnerships with councils and voluntary organisations where learners can gain valuable work experience. Meanwhile, our HND in Care and Administrative Practice incorporates a PDA in Perioperative, the only college in Scotland to offer this and the chance to really experience the hands-on hospital theatre environment.
If you want to continue your studies at university there are opportunities to enter second year at Dundee, Abertay and RGU or, for those interested in studying learning disabilities, there is the option to progress to Napier University in Edinburgh.
