How D&A College is using video CVs to promote their students to employers.
An international fact finding trip by Dundee and Angus College has resulted in a novel way of promoting our students and unemployed customers. Four delegates from Dundee and Angus College recently travelled to Frankfurt (Oder), a town in Brandenburg, Germany, as part of an international project called DELTA (Developing Expertise in work-based Learning and Teaching Assessment) involving partners from Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and Sweden.
The aims of the project are to promote, facilitate and improve the participation of companies in the VET (Vocational Education and Training) system, providing a smooth integration for VET students and a good apprenticeship period.
During the trip the team visited a number of different companies involved in the apprenticeship scheme and throughout, one method of improving employment opportunities stood out; video CVs.
D&A College’s Employability Coordinator Kathryn Simpson says, "This was an extremely interesting trip with so much knowledge being passed between the partners. Our team will now build on this information to put plans in place to create video CVs with a range of learners, including apprentices and our unemployed customers, which will help them stand out from other applicants."
