Free Health check for SMEs

8 August 2018

There are some fantastic development opportunities out there for small businesses at the moment which includes the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) led Skills for Growth Initiative.

If you’re a Scottish business with less than 250 employees you can access a free health check, expert guidance and support from the Skills for Growth Employer Engagement team.

The scheme is aimed at improving performance by working to people’s strengths, introducing innovative workplace practices, identifying and resolving skills shortage and encouraging and motivating the workforce.

Employer Engagement Advisor, Sam Greer says, “This is in essence a FULLY FUNDED consultancy piece (up to 2 days) which provides an employer with a ‘Deep Dive Analysis’, often providing the business owner with confidence that they are indeed ‘doing the right thing’, sometimes however forcing them to make difficult decisions which they may have been avoiding or delaying!  It provides the business with an objective viewpoint and leaves them with a working document of recommendations/actions to achieve long term sustainable growth and ultimately provide further employment opportunities.”

This opportunity would particularly benefit Levy Paying companies who have the opportunity from year 2 to access £15,000 for reskilling and upskilling the existing workforce. The non-levy paying SME supply chain of those businesses may also be able to receive support so an opportunity like this is good for everyone!
