Brimming with bright ideas Archive for 2017

This last year has been full of lightbulb moments for Dundee and Angus College as it has continued to develop into a hotbed of entrepreneurial enterprise and spirit!
In response to an increasingly volatile job market, the college is making impressive strides in terms of embedding entrepreneurial knowledge into the curriculum.
Within its three campuses, it hosts a wide selection of curriculum based businesses, all of which are student led and play a significant part in educating, upskilling and confidence building with regards to the student body.
Some of the businesses under their protective umbrella include valeting, pop-up shops, furniture making, a small plant nursery, growing and selling vegetables, artisan chocolates and running sports classes for toddlers - and the list is constantly growing. Although the businesses draw to a temporary hiatus at the end of every college year, profit from these enterprises is available to reinvest in the next set of student enterprises come the autumn.
“Your Wee Pal” is one of its most recent successes where designer Judith McDowall spotted a gap in the market to create quality Scottish dolls and brooches.
And all of these great ideas don’t go unnoticed! Dundee and Angus College’s entrepreneurial spirit was recently recognised by Young Enterprise Scotland when it received their Most Entrepreneurial College in Scotland Award.
