Life Sciences and the Related Science Industries are high-tech, innovative and highly diverse areas, spanning pharmaceuticals, medical technology, biotechnology and industrial biotechnology. Each apprentice is required to achieve the following qualification: SVQ 2 in Life Sciences and Related Industries SCQF Level 6 GJ2Y 22 SQA Plus one of the following must be achieved:
National Certificate in Applied Science SCQF Level 5 G9OM 45
National Progression Award in Practical Science SCQF Level 5 GG37 45
Each apprentice is required to achieve the following core skills:
Communication SCQF Level 4
Working with Others SCQF Level 4
Problem Solving SCQF Level 4
Information and Communication Technology SCQF Level 4
Numeracy SCQF Level 4
The programme should take 2 years to complete. Candidates will be work based and are reviewed by an assessor every 13 weeks throughout the duration of the programme. Candidates will attend College once a week on a day release basis.
Successful completion can lead to progression to SVQ Level 3 Life Science qualifications.
