MA Level 2 Hairdressing
Entry requirements
Candidates must be working in salon for a minimum of 3 months and achieve a work-based assessment.
Course content
Included in this course are the units:
  • Changing hair colour
  • Style and finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Health and safety
  • Give clients a positive impression of yourself and the salon
  • Promoting additional services and products

Qualifications achieved
Each apprentice is required to achieve the following qualification:
  • SVQ 2 in Hairdressing at SCQF Level 5
Core skills
Each apprentice is required to achieve the following core skills:
  • Communication SCQF Level 3
  • Working With Others SCQF Level 3
  • Problem Solving SCQF Level 3
  • Information and Communication Technology SCQF Level 3
  • Numeracy SCQF Level 3

The programme takes on average 18 months to complete. Candidates will be work based and are reviewed by an assessor every 10-13 weeks throughout the duration of the programme.

Future prospects

MA Level 3 Hairdressing or NC Hairdressing SCQF Level 6.
