Meet the team - Kathryn
Kathryn Simpson, Employability Coordinator
When Kathryn left school she didn’t fancy following the university route so started working in an opticians followed by an auto logistics firm.
Kathryn’s career at D&A College began 14 years ago on a six month contract and since then she has worked in the various campuses and different departments including Registry, Bursaries, International and External Relations.
During this time she further developed her career by gaining various qualifications in customer service, management and health & safety.
Early on Kathryn discovered she liked working with the public and helping people and her current role involves just that. She works closely with the local job centres, councils and Skills Development Scotland to help people gain employability skills and take a closer step to the labour market.
“Every day is different and you never know what’s going to happen. Variety is one of the things I like about my job. It’s also good getting out and about visiting companies and meeting new people. My favourite aspect of the job is seeing the change in people after they complete one of our programmes. The increase in their confidence levels and self-belief is amazing and to think I have helped them get to that point is really satisfying.”
