The Health and Social Care Academy is a partnership between Dundee and Angus College, NHS Tayside, Angus Council, Gowrie Care and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Are you currently unemployed and living in Angus?
Do you aspire to work within the care sector?

This 6-week full time pre-employment training programme will equip you with essential skills needed to apply for support services jobs across the care sector.

To apply you must be currently unemployed, living in Angus and registered with your local Jobcentre Plus Office.

The first 2 weeks in the Health and Social Care Academy are spent at D&A College, receiving mandatory training in:
• Care Values
• First Aid
• Health and Safety Awareness
• Food Hygiene (REHIS)
• Infection Control (REHIS)
• Manual Handling (Scottish Passport)
• Basic IT Skills

You will then spend 12 days work experience (3 placements of 4 days each) within clinical and non clinical placements across a variety of the partner organisations across Angus.
Please note placements may be in areas that do not have immediate employment opportunities.

Successful completion of the Healthcare Academy will give you:
• Access to vacancies in essential support services in Angus
• A guaranteed interview when you apply for an essential support service position with partner organisations across Angus (if you meet job criteria)
• References from both the College and the Healthcare Academy for job applications

If you are successful in gaining a place on the course you will be required to become a PVG Scheme Member (Disclose Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups), asked to complete an Occupational Health form and may be asked to attend a health check. All job offers are subject to a Disclosure Scotland/PVG and health check.
